Thanks to some special donors who contributed above and beyond, we have been able to get our rooftop into play shape. And just in time! This week our weather is absolutely gorgeous...sunny and mid-70s (sounds like a Florida winter). We have a terrific little playset just right for the *middles* -- our 2 year old to 6 year olds. One of the swings is also good for the "bigs" and some of the sturdier babies are enjoying the jet-shaped swing. 
For safety and to make a good play space for the babies, we have a nice padded floor.
Yesterday the big kids (eight 4 to 12 year olds) hauled all the heavy rubber tiles up 10 flights of stairs...they spread out up the stairwell so they each had to get the piles of squares from the bottom of their section up to the next person. Great teamwork! It was still a lot of work, and it was hot. But they were amply rewarded with an ice cream bar, a great play space on our roof...and the satisfaction of doing it themselves. I am so proud of all of them.How about those smiling faces!!
