Orphan Sunday

So, yes, it is Orphan Sunday, and I have a request for all my Christian friends. Yes, it's the Christians specifically for this one.

PLEASE do not pray for orphans this Sunday. That's what I said. Please.do.not.pray.for.orphans. Got it?

Why? Because God already knows about the orphans. He doesn't need you to tell him. He knows every one by name. He knows what each one needs. He even has a plan to meet those needs. He doesn't need Christians to tell him there are orphans in the world and that they need help. He knows.

Wait, there's more.

Please do NOT pray for God to raise up parents to adopt them.
Do NOT pray for God to send workers to love and care for them where they live.
Do NOT pray for funds to be provided to meet their daily needs.

Am I serious? Yes, yes I am. I believe that God in His infinite wisdom and love, HAS chosen parents for them. I believe he HAS equipped workers to go and care for them. I believe he HAS provided all the funds needed to take care of every single one from his bounty of riches. You don't need to tell Him to do that. He's way ahead of you.

Awesome, right?  Yes, it is. Oh, but there is one prayer that I would ask you to pray on Orphan Sunday (and every day, but let's just start with today). This is the prayer that God does need to hear --

"Show me what you have planned for me to do for orphans, and give me the courage to be obedient."

That's it. That's all it takes. Obedience to the call that God has put in your heart. Obedience to the plan that He has designed. No more ignoring it, no more praying for the guy in the next seat to do something, no more running from what God has told YOU to DO. No more praying for orphans, it's time to start acting in obedience. Even when it's hard; even when it hurts.

HIS eyes are open, and HIS heart is broken at the condition that HIS people have allowed the orphans of HIS world to live in. It's time to stop praying for orphans.
