OK, everything is urgent, isn't it? Hard to believe, but it is already time to work on school plans for next fall! I seem to leave all "our" stuff until the last minute, and last minute it is. Tomorrow at 6am registration begins for fall online classes for Marissa and Lindsay. (Can you believe they will be in 10th and 8th grades?)
As you all know, this isn't a job like most jobs. For one thing I am on call pretty much 24/7 and for another, there isn't actually a salary. But it is a full-time job, and we have bills to pay like everyone else. One of those is the costs for educating three pretty amazing girls who have given up friends, soccer, music lessons, dance, Girl Scouts and their very beloved dogs, Sam and Lucky, in order to help give 60+ pretty terrific kids a better chance at life. One of the things that makes this possible is online classes for a couple of subjects (wish we could do all subjects that way, but we can't for many reasons). It's time to register for classes so I need to once again ask, beg, cajole, cry out for some help. The classes are very inexpensive for what you get (full year, 1 1/2 hours of live instruction each week, plus assignments graded, feedback, etc just like a real classroom) for between $400 and $500 per class. That's a bargain...but, uh times 2-3 classes times 2 kids (Kristen is too young yet), it still adds up. And there's books and some supplies.
